The Mathis Era Begins

Man, are you guys watching this Olympic opening thingy?  Not for me.  The Olympics themselves are going to be fucking fantastic, even without baseball (though that's what the MLB season is for, I suppose).  This flash game is more my speed, though I think I played it too much, as my right eye doesn't seem to want to completely function.

Anyway, yeah.  Mathis.  Starting catcher for  the foreseeable future.  His era is now, which makes the Aaron Laffey era the shortest in the history of eras.  Seriously, there have been like 9 eras this year.

Edwin will get another Zaunhead for his game yesterday, and uhh, Mathis for Wednesday.  Christ.  Mathis got on base twice aaaaand pitched an inning of mopup, which got him a -.003 WPA.  Ha.

The Tigers are in town for the weekend, and we've successfully managed to avoid Justin Verlander on this trip. I fucking dare you to no-hit us now, you jackass.

Stuff
Nothing much in terms of Jays rumors today.  Yunel Escobar is still apparently a trade option, but has a bad attitude!  MLBTR also says that today is the 1-year anniversary of the Colby Rasmus trade.

John Farrell told reporters that Jose Bautista isn't swinging a bat yet.

Brandon Morrow threw a BP session last night, and is on track to rehab at single-A on Sunday
