Even Clay Buchholz Can Beat a Team that Doesn't Swang

Uh, yeah.  Title says it all, I guess.  The Jays came up in the bottom of the 6th with a 2-run deficit and the meat of the order up, and subsequently browsed at a bunch of pitches, striking out looking for all three at-bats.  The Red Sox would proceed to score four times in the ensuing top of the 7th inning, and that was about it.  Between that inning, and the two chances (1st and 5th innings) that the Jays had where they had two men on with no outs and scored 0 runs, this game wasn't ever really close at any point, no matter the score.  Fun day.

I can't imagine it's going to get a whole lot better with Kyle Drabek on the mound against one of the more patient teams in baseball.  I know I shit on Drabek a lot, and I probably shouldn't do it quite as much as I do, and he's definitely proven me wrong, but Drabek against a patient team just seems like a recipe for disaster.

David Cooper gets a Zaunhead by a fucking country mile for last night's game.  2-for-4 with a HR, a double, and a loud fly out.  He seems to be putting some nice swings on the ball lately based on nothing but my own eyeball test.  Good for him.

Stuff
Buster Olney suggests the Jays as a possible landing spot for Matt Garza.  I mean, I suggested this a long time ago, so it doesn't exactly take a brain mechanic to figure out that Garza, a pitcher with a history of success in the AL East, would be a good fit for the Jays, a team who needs pitching and is in the AL East.

Jorge Soler is now a free agent.  He's 20, and apparently is going to be really good.

Tony Ambrogio reports that Travis Snider is going to have 3 AB's in an extended spring training game, after going through batting practice with no worries yesterday.  He's got some other stuff on his twitter today.  Among those items, he says that, according to Farrell, Alvarez is fine, that Drabek has made a slight adjustment from the stretch, and that Bautista is just naturally a fiery dude, and he's not going to change.

Shi Davidi tells us that Sergio Santos threw 25 pitches in a bullpen the other day, and probably won't face batters until mid-June.  He also says that Morrow with throw a bullpen tomorrow.
